From October 1 to 4, 2026, Vienna will host the 26th Congress of the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA), one of the leading international events in the field of retinal medicine. The congress will take place at VIECON – Vienna Congress & Convention Center and will bring together specialists from around the world. This year’s edition places a strong emphasis not only on scientific content, but also on international exchange and professional networking. The new World Retina @ EURETINA initiative will provide dedicated opportunities for networking and discussion throughout the four-day congress.
The scientific programme will cover some of the most important areas in contemporary retinal medicine, including neovascular and dry age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, vitreoretinal surgery, inherited retinal diseases, multimodal imaging and artificial intelligence. Among the highlights are dedicated sessions exploring the future of retina, the role of AI in ophthalmology, and new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases. The programme also features a renewed Free Paper Forum format and a dedicated Poster Theatre.
EURETINA 2026 also reflects a broader trend in international medical congresses — the boundaries between scientific content, professional exchange and community building are becoming increasingly fluid. For specialists, this means not only access to the latest scientific developments, but also opportunities for meetings, discussions and exchanges that extend beyond individual lecture sessions.
